Uganda is one of the countries where malaria is most common. Malaria is even the number one cause of death among children under five years of age. Using mosquito nets and providing proper information will prevent this terrible disease.
That is why the Joanne Foundation thinks prevention is very important. Abby Kakande and Apollo often visit the people of Ndegeya to give them information about sanitation, prevention of malaria and birthcontrol. By providing the Ndegeya community with latrinebuildings, jerrycans and mosquito nets the Joanne Foundation has been able to improve healthcare in Ndegeya

By providing the Ndegeya community with latrinebuildings, jerrycans and mosquito nets the Joanne Foundation has been able to improve healthcare in Ndegeya. Nurse Abby Kakande will be involved at the clinic and besides providing medical care to 75 of the poorest people, he will also treat paying patients.
Michael, our eyecare-staffmember and nurse-in-training, will continue the eyecareprogram in the clinic and also assist Kakande.
One of our core values is sustainability, that is why the Joanne Foundation focuses on self-sufficiency, self-reliance and financial independence of the clinic. Being the coordinator, Apollo is closely involved with the clinic.
